Osu Street Market (Oxford Street) Osu is Accra's most walkable shopping and nightlife district. Makola Market Makola is the city's largest open-air market and the place to see Accra at full volume. Traders sell fresh produce, dried fish, spices, textiles, household goods, and kente cloth. The central Makola Market women's association is a symbol of Ghanaian entrepreneurship. Arts Centre (Centre for National Culture) Located near Black Star Square, the Arts Centre is a market specifically designed for crafts and souvenirs. Wood carvings, masks, drums, leather goods, and jewelry are laid out in stalls. Prices are often higher than in local markets, but the selection is curated and the experience is calmer for first-time visitors.

Bargaining Tips

• Ask the price, then offer roughly half in a friendly tone.
• Be prepared to walk away — you will often be called back.
• Carry small bills in Ghana cedis for easier transactions.
